Configuration selection and precautions for ultra-high power fiber laser cutting machine

1】Cutting control system


The control system is an important part of the laser cutting machine. It puts the graphic image file designed by the user through a series of processing, and finally becomes the control instruction of the motor and laser, which is the central link between the design drawing and the mechanical communication.


Necessary function (1): perforation control

1. Since the myriawatt cutting machine can cut very thick plates, it must have a piercing stage of more than four levels for the perforation of thick plates;

2. The thick stainless steel plate needs to be perforated with oxygen, and cut with nitrogen or air. Therefore, special treatment is required for gas switching to prevent gas leakage.


Necessary function (2): start-up cutting control

Start-up cutting control: In order to ensure stable start-up cutting after perforation of thick plates, special treatment is required for the starting position, and different cutting methods can be set independently.


Necessary function (3): corner and acceleration/deceleration control

When cutting at corners and acceleration/deceleration positions, the airflow and the energy distribution of the laser acting on the plate will change. To ensure stable cutting, the cutting control software needs to adjust the laser parameters and gas parameters in real time according to the movement speed.


Necessary function (4): monitoring and alarm

While the myriawatt cutting machine has powerful cutting capabilities, it also has greater operational risks. Therefore, a powerful myriawatt cutting machine must have powerful monitoring capabilities, which can display working parameters and status on the control interface in real time. When an abnormality occurs, it will automatically stop working and give an alarm.

 

【2】Cutting auxiliary gas


There are usually three auxiliary gases for laser cutting machines: air, nitrogen and oxygen. Different auxiliary gases are used to cut different materials. The following table summarizes the gas selection and precautions during the myriawatt laser cutting process:

Recommendation

Use liquid oxygen to ensure stable air pressure and long use time

The amount of nitrogen used is large, storage tanks are recommended, one-time filling, long use time, good pressure stability, and relatively low cost

It is recommended to use a high-power compressor to ensure continuous and stable air pressure.

Problem

When the oxygen purity is not enough, the cutting oxidation is insufficient, and there will be slagging or continuous cutting problems.

1. When the nitrogen purity is not enough, the cutting surface will turn yellow;

2. When the nitrogen gas pressure is insufficient, the cutting surface is stratified 

1. When the air filtration is not sufficient, the pipe of the cutting machine and the lens of the cutting head will be contaminated and the loss will be serious;

2. When the air pressure is insufficient, the cutting surface is stratified


【3】Other peripheral configuration


Chiller requirements

Requirements: Optional chillers for myriawatt cutting machines. Cutting machine manufacturers should pay attention to the cooling capacity, water flow, and water pressure of the chiller (MAX 15KW laser cooling requirements: cooling capacity 35KW, water flow 160L/min, Water pressure>4.5bar).


Environmental requirements for myriawatt lasers

Requirements: The  myriawatt laser has high requirements for external temperature and humidity. In order to ensure the stable processing of the cutting machine, an air-conditioned room must be installed separately for the  myriawatt laser, which is isolated from the outside world. It can prevent condensation in summer and icing in winter, keeping the laser in the best working environment and prolonging its service life.


Cutting bed requirements

Requirements: The myriawatt cutting machine needs to cut thicker and larger plates, so the bed should be designed to be thicker and stronger. In addition, during the cutting process of the myriawatt laser, the internal temperature of the cutting machine will be higher, the bottom needs to be covered with insulation materials (insulation tiles, insulation bricks), the rack must be thicker, and the ventilation and dust removal system will be more robust and smarter.


Motion motor requirements

Requirements: myriawatt cutting machine, with larger format and faster cutting speed, so the motion motor is required to have faster acceleration, more accurate accuracy and greater load-bearing capacity.
