Seven principles for selecting fiber lasers

1. Laser beam quality

Fiber laser beam quality has three important indicators

(1) Beam parameter product BPP

An important indicator describing the quality of the laser beam.

The smaller the BPP value, the smaller the beam can be focused, and the higher the power density, the faster the cutting speed of the sheet, the higher the smoothness of the cutting surface, and the cutting of high-reflection materials such as copper and aluminum. It can improve the production efficiency, quality and application range of cutting.

(2) Spot roundness

The roundness of the light spot describes the uniformity of the energy distribution of the light spot in different directions. The roundness of the light spot has uniform energy distribution in all directions. When non-linear cutting is performed, the consistency of the smoothness and cutting speed of the cutting surface in all directions can be guaranteed to ensure the quality of the cut product.

(3) Light spot energy distribution

The spot energy distribution is highly rounded, uniform, and concentrated, or the closer it is to a Gaussian distribution, the higher the centre energy of the focused spot and the better the spot symmetry. "The sharper the blade edge" when cutting, the faster the cutting speed of the thin plate, the better the smoothness of the cutting surface, and the higher the consistency of the slits in all directions.

 

2.Laser output power stability

Describe the stability of laser output power in the full power range (10%-100%) under different output power and long-term stability.

(1) Output power stability in the full power range

The lower the stability value, the better the stability of the laser under different output power, which can ensure the consistency of the cutting surface smoothness and cutting speed when cutting at different thicknesses. It can improve the authenticity of the cut products and ensure the stability of the quality of the cut products.


3. Quality control of core components

The core components determine the overall performance and quality of the laser. The outsourcing of core components can make it difficult to control the overall performance and quality of the laser, and the performance and quality of the laser cutting machine cannot be controlled. The life of core components affects the failure rate and service life of the laser. The higher life of core components determines the low failure rate and long life of the laser, which reduces customer downtime and maintenance costs.


4. Redundant hot standby design of laser module

The laser module redundant hot standby design can start the hot standby function when part of the laser power module fails, and replace the faulty power module with the standby power. The cutting machine can continue to be used normally, reducing the customer's downtime cost due to the failure of some power modules.

 

5.Laser electronic dehumidifier

Condensation occurs when the temperature of the laser cooling system and the cooling device is lower than the dew point temperature of the surrounding humid air, which leads to device corrosion and failure.

 

6. Protection level of laser cabinet

The protection level of the laser cabinet describes the waterproof and dustproof level of the cabinet. High-IP cabinets can effectively prevent external dust and water from entering the cabinet, keep the inside of the laser cabinet clean and dry, avoid laser failure caused by dust and water entering the cabinet, and reduce customer laser maintenance costs and downtime costs.


7. Electro-optic conversion efficiency (WPE)

Describe the ratio of the electrical input power converted to the output power. The electro-optical conversion efficiency is high, the power consumption at a certain output power is low, the laser heat is low, and the customer's laser power consumption cost and the water-cooled power consumption cost for cooling are reduced.
